Israel says killed senior Hizbollah commander

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli troops on Tuesday killed a senior Hizbollah commander in fighting near the Lebanese border, the army said.

The army identified the man as Abu Jaafar and said he was the commander of Hizbollah's "central sector" on the Lebanese border with Israel.

The army said he was killed in an exchange of fire with Israeli troops near the Lebanese border village of Maroun al-Ras.

First off, thank you for at least taking a humanitarian look at whats happening in Lebanon, the peaceful people of lebanon amount to 90% of the population and also 90% of the casualties.......

I can only blame the people who press that red button way up in the sky for the deaths that happen way below...... the government is not responsible for this devastation in Lebanon.

As for Hezbullah, yes they are militant, yes they are religious, yes they are the reason why there is so much tension in Lebanon, and the reason why a civil war might be brewing between all the other sects and the shiites.....but for me to wish death "on every last one of those dirtbags" goes againts my personal beliefs.... in doing so, I would be wishing death on every last religious shiite male from age 15-60, which would comprise about a third of Lebanon...

I hope for a political solution to this madness...one that will entail hezbullah to give up their weapons, for a prisoner swap, and for an international peace keeping force on the border (to protect Isreal from hezbullah, and to protect lebanon from israel) .......

i think another path is needed to battle the ideology of terror and hate, because in fact it is just that an ideology, something you CANT shoot, arrest, or bomb.....

the only way to defeat this movement of hate is to isolate it. The more efforts on the education and humanitarian front, the more the masses will realize that you are not the devil and must be killed. This bullshit mentality is preached the the poor of the world because the poor are easily manipulated and the poor tend to turn to religion (often in extreme ways) because thats their only way out......

so a massive effort to educate (through media outlets and support of the moderates, and yes they do exist, in the local politics) needs to take place, this is the longterm, slow, expensive front.....

then there needs to be another front, a controversial one that I think is a necessity.... take the slogans and cards out of the extremists

the Palestinian dilemma must be solved in order to take their plight and suffering out of the fiery speeches of the terrorist leaders, a return to 67 borders, fully, and a return or compensation to the palestinian refugess, and a split, dual governing of Jerusalem is a must...... thats huge concessions by Israel, but are musts.... if that works, well all of a sudden "look what those damn jews and infidels are doing to the palestinians" cant be said anymore...

also, support of the Arab regimes like the saudis and and the egyptians who are completely oppressive to its people and are dictatorships show double standards that hurt the US image..... if we can stick to one unified line of spreading democracy (not by the gun, because you cant impose democracy, it has to be homegrown) and not wage war on some (Iraq, syria, and iran) and support others (egypt and saudi) .... that would be a good step....

i think another path is needed to battle the ideology of terror and hate, because in fact it is just that an ideology, something you CANT shoot, arrest, or bomb.....

the only way to defeat this movement of hate is to isolate it. The more efforts on the education and humanitarian front, the more the masses will realize that you are not the devil and must be killed. This bullshit mentality is preached the the poor of the world because the poor are easily manipulated and the poor tend to turn to religion (often in extreme ways) because thats their only way out......

so a massive effort to educate (through media outlets and support of the moderates, and yes they do exist, in the local politics) needs to take place, this is the longterm, slow, expensive front.....

then there needs to be another front, a controversial one that I think is a necessity.... take the slogans and cards out of the extremists

the Palestinian dilemma must be solved in order to take their plight and suffering out of the fiery speeches of the terrorist leaders, a return to 67 borders, fully, and a return or compensation to the palestinian refugess, and a split, dual governing of Jerusalem is a must...... thats huge concessions by Israel, but are musts.... if that works, well all of a sudden "look what those damn jews and infidels are doing to the palestinians" cant be said anymore...

also, support of the Arab regimes like the saudis and and the egyptians who are completely oppressive to its people and are dictatorships show double standards that hurt the US image..... if we can stick to one unified line of spreading democracy (not by the gun, because you cant impose democracy, it has to be homegrown) and not wage war on some (Iraq, syria, and iran) and support others (egypt and saudi) .... that would be a good step....

sorry but I lost 3 friends to the fucking arabs and my gf lost friends and family, I wish death upon them I really do from the bottom of my heart. so yea im a little violent that plus my hot albanian blood.bad mix.

9/11 is near and dear to my heart too, ive shed many tears because of that damn day.... thats my senior year at Pace University, i watched the towers on fire and fall from 4 blocks away. Two classmates in my finance class were interning at Cantor and lost their lives...... I lived at the Pace dorms for all of my years in school, the twin towers were my campus, Pace served as a triage and morgue the entire fall semester, and all my life ive been a new yorker..... not having them in the skyline makes me sick, everytime i look at it from the BQE under the promenade.....

we all suffered that day, so please dont paint a picture that anyone on this board is unaware of 9/11 or that we forgot, we can never forget.......
