Absolutely love this section of Time- I've posted more than a few things from it before. Bits and pieces but good discussion topics and facts. Just some random ones that caught my eye :

"Marriage is not about love. It's about a love that can bear children"
-Todd Akin, Rep. Congressman from Missouri calling for the House to pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. The measure failed.

1.5 Million = Average number of patients injured a year by medication errors of health professionals, inlcluding doctors' bad handwriting.

3.5 Billion = Annual cost of treating those drug-related injuries.

45% = Percentage of the $420 Million charged to gov't issued credit cards by Homeland Security staff in the wake of Katrina and Rita, that was not authorized in advance ( according to a gov't audit).

1= Number of bills vetoed by George Bush, the fewest of any President since James Garfield, who served for only four months in 1881 and vetoed none.

635 = Number of vetoes by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the most- by more than 50%- of any President.

No i dont think thats it i think they are just too set in their ways. No one is open to change. They are afraid of it. And thats normal. All it takes is for people to step outside of the box and use their own minds and realize change is not such a bad thing..

Many people are uncomfortable with change, I wouldn't say " no one is open to change", some like it.

But what exactly would be "changing"? Nobody's forcing THEM to be gay, it's not like gay couples AREN'T couples b/c they cannot marry. Gay people are here, giving or not giving them permission to marry doesn't change shit in your average person's life. They're narrow minded, bible thumping, homophobic assholes lol
