lol thats awesome bro. 315 is a respectable poundage. i dont generally do bench. i like weighted dips for my main chest exercises.

personal best for me was 315 on the deadlift.

I haven't been consistent with the gym over the past 4 years but could still deadlift 315 for a few reps.. considering im 175 and not that built I consider that an accomplishment lol

yea deff. they say the best weight class is 175-185 and they can move the more weight per pound of body weight. its true. im 185 and 315 is pretty decent weight to throw around.

very nice--i have staryed away from exercises like flat bench recently, and usually will hit it like once a month--i really havent gotten into deadlifts bc my lowe back usually bothers me, but i have been doing more sqauts recently, prolly bc of reading abot it on here

I've been on a downward spiral lately with my pundage. My delts are completely shot and the tendonits in my elbow is almost unbearable at times.
I still go at it though! Im trying to climb back slowly.
My personal bests though are 315 bench this past spring, but I cant even smell that poundage right now.
Im really concentrating on "feeling" my movements lately rather than just trying to move weight.

i set the pins in the rack up real high and i just held 405 on my back for as long as i could, that shit is DAMN heavy

The biggest guy in my gym holds all of his exercises at the peak. You can see that he is concentrating on the "flex". Granted, the guy HAS to be on some serious growth, but still, its obviously working.

yea, holding them at the peak is pivitoal for muscle development. i see guys doing presses like jackhammers. only thing theyll get from that is sore joints.

How tall are you?
I notice alot of guys with small frames, but are stocky can move alot of weight compared to how much they weigh. I think it has alot to do with shorter range of motion.

def has to do with the range of motion, this is why this argument bothers me when peopel say i weigh more so i should do more--not that im so tall--but alot taller i guess than avg joe in the gym

but at 195 or whatever that guy said, its still damn good

at one point my max squat was 525
best flat bench was comparably low, probably like 270 for 11 i think
my most impressive i can do now is probably 90lb dumbells shoulder press for 10-12 reps

i personally think going heavy is stupid and is a great way to get hurt unless you are training for worlds strongest man or something

Clubadikkt
11-07-2006, 05:16 PM
At 6'6 any chest and leg max is hard for me to get.

With bumbells
Flat bench - 125lb each for 8
shoudler press - 145 each for 5 (no lcue why my shoudlers are so strong)

Legs i cant do anything with my knees are basically bone on bone from playing basketball and football and my weight

lol--me too, i think it is bc it takes practice of getting used to an exercise before you really get comfortable with it--and the incline bar i def use the least and therefore life the least and not comfortable--i will usually use the smith press for it or dumbells

DEEPER KEMICAL
11-08-2006, 11:21 AM
i never touch flat. i will only do inclines as my bar or dumbell exercises. i work my chest so much more when i do incline.

and i too rotate my exercises. i do a program called power/rep range/shock and each week is targets differenct exercises. its a great program for someone who likes to switch things up weekly.

so what you do one thing heavy for a max, and then you do another exercise light for reps? I usually do something similar, because once I kill myself hitting whatever I want hard the energy level isn't the same.

i wanna gain some weight also, but i go out every saturday get drunk then sleep all day on sunday and only eat like once or twice that fucks me up big time lol
have to stop going out or stop drinking and stuff
my bench was always the strongest, i could outbench all my friends lol

My personal bests

at 151 I squated 225 19 times (Coudlnt get the 20th one and I tried numerous times) also squatted 275 for 6.

After blowing out my knee and mad rehab you should see what I am squatting now :chuckle

I expect I will get back to 2 plates for 20 but not for at least 2 years maybe like mid 08 if I keep training the way I have been recently.

My workouts continue to get better...

Did a dumbell checst workout last night...
Got up 100's for 4-5 very clean reps on incline on my 5th set.
Got up 110's for a clean rep on flat on my last set. Thats the heaviest Ive ever gone with dumbells. I could have done more, but my left elbow completely gave out on me due to the tendonitis.

Its a weird feeling to be making progress like this. I havent touched weight like this "naturally" ever!

Its funny too, beause Im lifting with this kid who was "on" for quite some time. Kid is like 5'8" and not too big, but was moving some rediculous weight all summer. 150lb incline dumbells for reps! He's come off and is freaking out because he is only doing 130's for reps now. lol..I had to sit him down and bring him back to the reality that you cant compare how strong you are on the shit, to being natural. I would love to be shrugging 130's for reps, nonethe less incline presses, lol.

"feeling the movement" is what im all about now as well.

Its what I've always been about. That and a 2-3 sec. peak hold, like Ginz was sayin'. Two huge principles of mine. Some of the stronbest doods I know are no more than 190 lbs, buth they are ripped and and strong as fuck. Pppl get it fcuked up....Mass and size do not alwyas equate to strength and endurance.

my personal best was 365 on sqaut for 4 reps. but this was in 2002. (3 plates and a quarter plate)

im not trying to go super heavy no longer. 315 (3 plates) is enough to alternate every 2 weeks for a few reps.

bench was never great 2 plates and 10's for like 4-5 reps. bench makes me way way way too tight up top.

Im highly attributing alot of my gains to the environment Im working out in. Alot of weight is being moved around me, so its kinda pushed me to push my limits. There are a few guys in there that I talk to and we spot each other. They have been a huge help encouraging me to go heavier and break some plateus.
Even on the gas, I've never moved more weight then I am now.
The only thing Im taking is NO-Xplode pre workout.
My diet is as clean as its ever been...just really cheat on weekends at dinner.
I think the fact that Im not going out as hard core anymore has helped as well. My ass used to drag on Mondays, now Im alot more rested.

lol i think sometimes after a long weekend its like you missed the gym for a week.
those days were terrible especially going out hardcore where you lose in the weekend whatever you put on in the week.

people say 30 is starting to get old, but its a fact many men come into there own strength at 30 and beyond, strenght is the LAST thing to leave a man, speed and endurance being the first.

My personal best.. was a bulking period i weighed at 215 @5'10 a couple of years back.. i benched a clean set of 405 flatbench 6 reps. and squated a set of 8 385.. i have not been over 205 in two years and have not gone for big wieght since then.. and really dont have any desire to go near those #'s but felt good when i did this..
