$3500 pckg on Expedia.. hotel looks awesome... flight is SO LONG though :scared
Tribaljunkie should be your best source of info on this.
I went like 10years ago. I was in Buenos Aires and barely anyone spoke english which was very frustrating. My gf at the time had to do all the talking. Also, you have to look down wherver you walk because they have/had a stray dog problem and there was poop everywhere, lol
Clubs were kinda dope! Definite late night scene.
Joe, bring sunglasses, because there is ALOT to look at, lol.
We also visited Iguazu, which is kinda like Niagra Falls, but much more gooder. Im not a roughing it type of guy, so I wouldnt go check that out unless you are into the whole rainforest, third world country thing.
Eat as much as possible! The food is redic! Hit up the steakhouses and have some Argentine pizza!

i googled argentina beaches and saw the various sights already. but i dont really look...half the time i am oblivious to the world.
this is just an idea i have been kicking around in my noggin because i just want to start traveling more. we kind of nixed our plans for italy b/c of a long flight..but the flight to argentina is just as long.
i am due for an operation soon so i dont know if a long flight will be such a great idea.
as far as roughing it and third world stuff...i am def down for that..but my girlfriend probably would be into doing it unless she can wear stillettos while back packing. lol

Omg that's right - Maris mentioned to me u went, I totally forgot. Tell me EVERYTHING lol. Well ok not yet but if we decide to go I will be bombarding u w/questions I hope u don't mind :keke Honestly I would LOVE to go there it's my #1 choice right now since Italy is out of the question for the year.. but sitting on an airplane for 9 hrs (is that correct?) seems SO disheartening to me :upset I HATE AIRPLANES. So that's the only gripe I have about this trip. Also, how long did u guys go for? B/c of school I can't afford to be away more than 7 days. Is that enough time?
& St. Tropez of South America.. Ooh La La.. definitely sounds like my scene :teeth

Yeah it was like 9 hours going and MORE coming back...11 hours back seems to ring a bell :keke it was so long ago I think I blocked it out lol...I took a valium on the way back and slept for 6 hours of it, it rocked!
I went for 2 weeks...if you only have 7 days 2 out of those will be travel and jetlag, I suggest sticking to Buenos Aires then (only 5 days)...can you extend to 10 days maybe? Add in another destination (the Falls or Mar Del Plata)?
and you have to go in our winter (their summer)...if you go in teh summertime it can be a ski trip type thing, but theres nothing like strolling around the streets in your flip flops and beautiful skirts :shuffle

Yes someone just reminded me that their summer is our winter & vice versa lol... I am such an idiot I totally forgot that... this might make more sense to go in December then.. we get like 2 weeks off of work in the winter and that would work b/c we could def make it a 10 day trip then or more..
so maybe we'll have to do a small summer trip & then a 10 or more days in Argentina thing in December. December is when I graduate too so it would be the perfect present to myself :buck

Ok heres some lil tidbits of info.
1. Flights are 11 hours and nonstop out of jfk. Yes flight is a pain in the ass but I usually drug myself with tynonel PM.
2. USD is about 3.10 over their. REALLY cheap.
3. I am from Mar del Plata. Its the major beach city of Argentina, and one of the most traveled summer destinations in all of south america. Margarita Islands, Rio and Punta del Este in Uruguay are up their as well. But in Southern South america (that sounded weird) Mar del Plata is it. Its a city that year round holds arond 500k ppl and in the summer months of Jan-Mar it gets pushed with about a million people. Its GORGEOUS and I love that city with all my heart :heart.
4. Buenos Aires is the capital of south America. No doubt about it. Its the "Paris" of south america because of the archetecture and the European influence we have. Its very beautiful, very busy, think a Manhattan just abuot 4 times its size. Its been very americanized in the TOURIST center, but just like in manhattan the real manhattan experience is walking down SOHO or the VILLAGE, not TIMES SQUARE. Visit LA BOCA (this was a neighborhood full of Italian immigrants)
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h302/tribaljunkee/n1819098_31041303_7854.jpg
BELGRANO, PALERMO (our version of Central Park).
5. LAS CATARATAS DE IGUAZU are roughly 90 natural waterfalls. NIAGRA FALLS is manmade.
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h302/tribaljunkee/Foz_do_Iguacu_juli_2003_-_2.jpg
6. The people their are very fun, and unlike its reputation the media has given. ARGENTINA IS A VERY SAFE COUNTRY. people always talk about the crisis...when was their ever NOT a political crisis in Argentina. People live with it and they dont mind it.
7. Go watch a soccer game. Its shit loads of fun and you will never experience another sporting event like this on planet earth. when it comes to sports and going a bit overbaord. ARGENTINA and FUTBOL go hand in hand

If you want to goto a good tango show you make sure you goto Michelangelos.
Palermo-is nice but you see a couple buildings, and then you're like ok whatelse
Recoleta-there are alot of private "green areas" to explore one which was like a zoo, the cemetary where Eva Peron is, museums(Malba)
Florida & LaValle Streets and the Waterfront - Great shopping, cafes, places to eat.
La Boca-San Telmo church & the one block shopping area or real nice, but this is actually the one unsafe area of BA
The carne does live up to the hype, the filet I had at Michelangelo's was amazing and everywhere else. And I hear all the good beachs are across the river in Uruguay.

That's a lie. Beaches are terrible in uruguay. Its just more "americanized"
The argentine atlantic coast has beautiful beaches
