Budapest

Heading to Budapest at the end of August. They usually have Love Parade going on but I heard it may not be happening this year. Has anyone been over there? What's it really like?

I have not been there during the Love Parade, but I have been there on other occasions. I can recommend a trip to the spa on Margaret Island (Hotel Thermal), it is much better than the overpriced and rather old Hotel Gellert bath which you read about in the guides. Also a trip to a drag show is recommended, there are plenty of them during the weekends.

I absolutely loved Budapest, I went there last summer (was a stop in the itinierary along with World Cup Germany, Prague, and Denmark)

I thought Budapest was by far the best city of the entire trip.... It has a great energy and vibe to it, much more so than Prague, which was beautiful but felt like one big museum with tons of tourists...... budapest is far more dirty and grimey, but loved every inch of it.... and hungarian women are redic. Night life was amazing also.

I would stay on the Pest (new section) side for your hotel, Buda (old section) is beautiful but has far less options at night

Love Parade happens, and always has happened, in Berlin - not Budapest ;)

(there was one year that they did Love Parade in San Francisco, but that was a one time deal)

Not that it really matters.....Love Parade was cancelled this year due to the promoters having issues getting the proper permits from the government to put it on this year :disappoin

I know the Love Parade is in Berlin but they also have one in BudaPest on the last Saturday in August. If you google Love Parade and Budapest it will come up.
