I'm on the bus now and I'm shocked at how many people smoke so damnearly in the am. Its disgusting, really.

I'm glad those of you that are quitting because it is one of the most unattractive habits a person can do. When I see a girl/woman smoking its a tremendous turnoff. Like I actually get grossed out.

well technically its an addiction that becomes a habit. like having coffee and then having a cigarette. its not the nicotine per-se thats making you have it with coffee, its the habit of always doing it.

thing is, when u try to quit... the withdrawals are a CLEAR sign that u r addicted

When I was on vacation I was smoking about a pack a day for 2 weeks straight. I decided to quit cold turkey (most effective according to experts) when I returned. I haven't bought a pack for a week now. I did bum 2-3 cigarettes last weekend and when I was out drinking on Wednesday but considering I would smoke through 2-3 packs on a weekend I would say its a great improvement.

Ive been smoking for 19 years and I must say once you overcome the initial urges and just think about all the damage you do to your body by smoking basically toxic pollutants you will be fine. I have also noticed that I drink less alcohol, since I always smoked with a drink in hand.

stop thinking about it!

you dont need it, it doesnt do anything for you except make you stinky, give you yellow teeth, bad breath and eventually...cancer

amber,

smoking doesnt really calm you down, it actually causes you even MORE anxiety because when you are a smoker youre always worried about when your next cig will be, you worry about the effects it has on you and your body, on your loved ones that you pass second hand smoke to, your poor lungs and that nasty cough...its giving you MORE STRESS.

its all in your head...you do realize this right? Dont let the man get you down :disgusted

do you want a hole in your throat and sound like a robot? :chuckle

well my friend who had a serious addiction has quit this year. and he told me that the times that he had a craving he would munch on an apple. seemed to have helped for him.

good luck :console
