Last time my sister and i went to Fig and Olive and had a great meal--we actually wound up ordering off the Restaurant week menu since we werent a big fan of it and it came out cheaper anyway lol
G, Richie, Des and I also went to Mesa Grill and had a great time and a pretty good meal--too bad the restaurant week hype and hustle and bustle had us waiting for our table for a good 45 minutes
This year my sister and i are gonna pull a stealth stalkerazzi move and have dinner at Butter monday night LOL --just booked it.

no- not a regular reservation. a reservation for restaurant week. i call & say "are you offering dinner for the restaurant week menu because it only lists lunch on the website" they say "no we are offering dinner- how many". me- "this is definitely for the restaurant week price right" them- "yes".

for however long i have been posting on this site, i will never ever know people's obsession with tao/china grill/megu blah blah blah. The over decadent non accurate types of places remind me of cattle farms. rushing people in and rushing people out hopefully blinding them with a big fucking buddha so they cannot taste what the fuck they are swallowing. Thank god..... as ADAM PLATT says in this weeks NY MAGAZINE. restaurant week strikes fear in my heart.
:scared
serving 530 desserts in 5 hours is no joke. tickets flying into my station 20 at a time, servers running around like scared little girls, and depending on my station to serve the last course so they could turn the table.
prix-fix this, a la carte that
"excuse me, but mrs. bitch-a-lot would like the pear tart no pear, no ice cream, but creme anglaise, no nuts, no caramel and mr. bitch-alot would like to know if he could do a cheese plate, no blue, no goat, nothing funky, he hates smelly cheeses, and do we have saltine crackers because he doesnt like artisinal bread and he doesn't like any theing pickled, preserved, pasteurized or pre-packaged...
"... its mrs. and mr. giantcuntrags anniversay and her birthday and the abomination of a child just got into harvard so could you do a happyanniversaryhappybirthdaymylovecongratulations on that plate? SWELL!
"oh and could you send it out in precisely 3 minutes? We have another 80 people waiting at the bar"

I'm a little naive and have never done restaurant week but would love to try one or two places out this year...you pay a set price of $35 and is it a set menu? do you have any choices or is everyone in the place eating the same thing? lol

its $35 for their 3 course restaurant week menu--but you have have about three options for each course. If you go and you dont like anything on their restaurant week prixe fix menu--you can always order off the regular menu or add things of the regular menu if you wish
try it out...sometimes its a steal :agree

i agree with everything jess said. Only thing to consider...
ppl wait until this time to book reservations at these restaurants, so most will be PACKED, expect to be served quickly. Although your server feels bad (maybe:yourcrazy ) , the maitre'd is most likely screaming at him/her to turn your table.... you'll have your check about 45 minutes after you sit down. Which isn't a lot of time.
ALSO
although RW is two weeks some restaurants run it a bit longer (usually in the summertime it can go from july -first week in september) , check to see if the restaurant is serving the menu the week after. you never know and it will be a much more pleasurable experience:agree

next question...is it worth it to go to any of these REAL expensive places like a David Burke & Donatella or should I stick to the less pricey restaurants figuring I may get more for my buck? I can't picture a place like David Burke serving up something that spectacular for $35...
