The renowned singer is partnering with one of the most prestigious names in fine jewelry for a glamorous, glittery evening that in years' past has featured surprise musical guests such as Harry Connick Jr., Bob Dylan, Whitney Houston, Paul McCartney and Sting.
This year, the soiree is located at the Pacific Design Center, beginning with dinner for 450 guests.
"I am very pleased to be co-hosting the '13th Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party,' to benefit my foundation, with Chopard," John says. "We have worked closely with Chopard on several occasions, and they have proven to be a wonderfully supportive partner of the Elton John AIDS Foundation." Last year's event, held in conjunction with InStyle magazine, raised more than $1 million for the foundation.
The color scheme is black and white with accent colors of orange, hot-pink and red in a circular free-span tent, with no tent poles. Designer Bradley Picklesimer of SESP Prods. is creating 10-foot-tall floral arrangements covered with roses and orchids and using hot-pink florals in the table centerpieces.
After the seated dinner and the close of the telecast, it's show time. "I have 20 minutes to strike all the tables and turn the room over into a gorgeous lounge for the performance and make it all look effortless," Picklesimer says. "This year because of Elton's performance and his special guest, we are going to have a dance floor for the first time ever, which is very exciting."
Chopard is donating watches from its new Elton John collection for auction, as well as giving 10% of the sales of the collection worldwide to the foundation....here are some pics, i hope I can find more
