i think cross fit calls them eves or uneven eves or somethin like that i kno i read some where that the jerk motion is probly the worst movment for ur spine does any one have ne studies on this


i personal will only do the clean part of the lift not the jerk sometimes i do hanging cleans too

i have 2 discs in my lower back that have no cartalige left

i don't know about it being the worst movement for your spine.

ANY movemnt done wrong over a long period of time can kill your spin, especially Deadlifts, which MOST people put wayyyyyy too much weight on the bar, and round their back.

your 24 dog you got missing cartilage in your spine already?? You gotta drop that weight dude. i think after benching 400 plus you don't need to prove nothing else huh?


Actually the clean and jerk done RIGHT will strengthen your back immensley, the jerk is to me is the easy part, the clean takes the work i think.
Do you stretch? tight pecs will dip your body foward putting strain on your lower back when you lift anything above your head.
most back problems are from weak stomachs, you should be doing heavy stomach work 3 times a week every week, and warm it up before heavy lifts, bad backs come from a weakness in the abdominals.

I've never heard about the jerk being bad for your back. I can think of plenty of other movements that could be way worse. For god's sake its an Olympic sport. Those guys train it 5-6 days per week for hours on end and are healthy.
