Music Mafia founder John Rich, in his first solo album wrote a heartbreaking song straight from the heart about this mess. To me this is what country music is about, this is it's populist hard working Americana roots.

Starring Kris Kristofferson:

My daddy taught me in this country everyones the same
You work hard for your dollar and you never pass the blame
When it dont go your way
Now I see all these big shots whining on my evening news
About how their losing billions and its up to me and you
To come running to the rescue

Well, pardon me if I dont shed a tear
There selling make believe and we dont buy that here

Because in the real world their shuttin Detroit down
While the boss man takes his bonus paid jets on out of town
DCs bailing out them bankers as the farmers auction ground
Yeah, while there living up on Wall Street in that New York City town
Here in the real world their shuttin Detroit down
Here in the real world their shuttin Detroit down

Well that old mans been working in that plant most all his life
Now his pension plans been cut in half and he cant afford to die
And its a crying shame, cus he aint the one to Blame
When I looked down to see his calloused hands
Well let me tell you friend it gets me fightin mad

Cause in the real world their shuttin Detroit down
While the boss man takes his bonus paid jets on out of town
DCs bailing out them bankers as the farmers auction ground
Yeah, while there living up on Wall Street in that New York City town
Here in the real world their shuttin Detroit down

Yeah while there living up on Wall Street in that New York City town
Here in the real world their shuttin Detroit down
Here in the real world their shuttin Detroit down
In the real world their shuttin Detroit down
Their shuttin Detroit down

I absolutely love this line, "Well, pardon me if I dont shed a tear/There selling make believe and we dont buy that here."

The finance industry should go under, they haven't invested in nothing for decades, nothing other than paper they invent. Good for nothing, but destroying the country, and tarnishing the good name of capitalism. Good Lord willing we have seen the last days of finance and it's crony capitalism in Washington.

why must "hard working" only be attributed to a particular area of america?

please

populism ..like the guys who grind numbers 14 hours a day on wall st , have no lifetime pensions, ZERO overtime, ..and suffer way harder during depressions dont? .. populism is bad..most people on wall st dont make millions ..its stereotype ..just like when elite nportheasterners do it to country guys .. i hate it either way

it means reward horribile companies like GM..makin excuses for union .. not like the execs are any better ..they signed these deals with unions not because it was the right thing to do..but under pressure ..so GM got bailed out once.. now there lookin for more.. id say let them all spend a month with the toyota execs ..then maybe they'll learn something

funny when auto sales fall off the union guy brings home a fat paycheck while the car salesman who makes 20k per year salary ..has no pension..pays his entire retirement out of his own pocket and works 12-13 hours a day / 60-65 hours a week..can take home as little as $250 when he doesnt produce ..

i hate populism
