We need an alien invasion or a terminator uprising,think about it until the human race finds a common enemy or proof of alien intelligent life we will always be divided.

You might be onto something, but there is an existing movement whose supreme commitment/goal is the unity of the human race, with concrete plans and actions developed to establish its core principles at the grass roots level. One must only accept that the possibility, not matter how minute or minuscule, does exist but that it is a process that will develop over generations.

To think that we could have a V or Independence Day type scenario for humankind that is sustainable is a little too far-fetched -- but on the contrary, to think this could begin, embryonically at a neighborhood level and gradually grow from there doesn't seem terribly unlikely. It just takes the right level of commitment and conviction to make it so.
