So I'm in Korea, where all they consume is white rice by the ton and not so healthy food. They feed us lunch at work, sometimes its healthy and up my alley, but other times I just can't eat it. I wanted to bring lunch to work instead, since I really want to get on my strict/healthy eating. They don't believe in microwaves here, so whatever it is I bring has to be able to be consumed cold or room temperature.

What is your suggestion for cold or room temperature lunches? I've been making bean and chicken salads, cans of tuna w/ veggies on the side. Pretty boring! :yawn

white rice in Asia is not nearly as unhealthy as white rice here. Look around, for the most part, Asians are skinny and they eat rice 3-4 times a day.

If you're looking for healthy stuff in Korea, just eat mad kimchi, seaweed salad and other veggies. Bi-bim-bap, too. Stuff is awesome

yea flips eat rice 3xs a day, and 90% of them are skinny. Look at the ppl aroudn u...im sure for the most part the same can be said in Korea....If its purely b/c you don't like what their serving you, thats a diff story.

I can never eat room temp food.... :barfy

you guys are saying this, meanwhile you think it's coincidence that Asians have the highest rate of diabetes? White rice is pure sugar in your body.

Hmmm very little help here...

I really love Korean food actually, so this isn't the problem. Koreans actually fry a lot of their meats/main dishes - I don't do fried. They use MSG in their food and don't consider it a problem, it's actually advertised as a good thing to cook with here in Korea. Maybe Koreans can eat white rice all day long and stay skinny, it is their genetics and metabolism that breaks it down properly, but I just can't.

I need alternatives, because I'm not Asian and I can't eat the way they do all the time and reap the same effects on my body.

Now, suggestions for cold/room temperature, low carb' lunches anyone? :)
