A couple..one a pink and another a bulletin board
NEPH- long at 1.26
BIEL- long at .0771
NEPH is a medical device company that got one approval so far for a Dual Stage Ultrafilter that is used to filter biological contaminants from water and bicarbonate concentrate in hemodialysis procedures.
They are waiting on word from the FDA on a few other approvals.
I originally bought this on May 26th ..got in at .32..Sold some at .76, .88, .90 and then the rest at 1.35. It got up to 1.75 at that time..
It sold off a bit and then I got back in at 1.26 ...fucker ripped to 2.63..This time around I sold some at 1.93and some at 2.60..the rest I'm most likely going to ride until the FDA makes their decision on the other potential approvals.
BIEL..I bought this one on pending approvals also...I bought in at .0771 on 8/4..after a few analysts placed a .30 to .50 price target on the stock. They've had some good press releases..most recently the 19th BioElectronics Significantly Strengthens Balance Sheet, Comments on FDA Applications - Yahoo! Finance (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/BioElectronics-Significantly-iw-1802005069.html?x=0&.v=1)
If this dips below .07 I'm gonna get more.
Another one I'm intrigued by and played is GETA..another bulleting board stock that has some significant anti-cancer drugs waiting on approval. It used to be listed as GNTA but the company did a reverse stock split and the ticker changed. This one is risky...the FDA has asked for more clinical trials from the company for their newest product. I'm on the sidelines on this one..Might get back in mid september.
My account sucked for a while on some bad plays but NEPH has been very kind to me.
As you see I like to play the small pharma stocks that have FDA approvals looming.

I own Man Financial (MF) at 2.11 net its at 6.82 today......holding it since Jan. I think its good for 10. Its a rock solid company that just got SLAMMED with all the banking stocks when in reality it is not a bank at all and had ZERO sub prime exposure.
MF Global Ltd. provides execution and clearing services for products in the exchange-traded and over-the-counter (OTC) derivative markets, as well as for products in the cash market primarily in Europe, North America, and the Asia/Pacific region. I also bought Alcoa this year at 5.27 net in like Feb this year and it is trading at 12.69 today. I think its good for 30 within a year or so.

I'm did well with GE. Got in around $7 already sold half a little while back at $14 to cover my cost now I'm letting it ride out.
I'm up about 75% on United Rentals (URI) which I bought around $5
Recently bought in to Altria (MO) at $16.5. Great dividend company
I'm really high on Activision Blizzard Inc (ATVI) - I bought it at $11.50. they are the best out there in producing video games
I'm also up about 25% on IMAX which I bought around $7 and I think they can still grow
I really only started investing in stocks a few months ago. Luckily I was still sitting on some cash and it looks like I may have gotten in at the right time. If the Dow hits 10k I may look to dump everything and go back in to cash for a while. I know a lot of people are predicting a huge pullback maybe around october so we'll see.
The one that i still kick myself over is not buying Citigroup when it was around $1. I was so close to pulling the trigger on a couple thousand shares but never did. Oh well
Also wish I bought Alcoa & Caterpillar with my boss a little while back when he told me to
Just got out of AIG (it had a monster day) and broke somewhat even on it. I should have jumped on it after the reverse split a few weeks back.

On a day where theres and pullback in Oil Heavy into the OIH (Oil Services ETF). I personaly think in the long term 6 to 8 months (which i am usualy not a long term guy) Oil is going to run very niceley. I have some of my clients in this already. Only thing is i have stops in because CHina worries me a little bit. They are lagging right now behind the U.S. Markets and they are slowing down on growth I believe. I was in the FXI (china etf) but i was stoped out. China buys commodities like crazy right now. So any pull back on that I might jump out of the oil trade.

What are your margin calls on those leverages after the past two days?
Fat Man D, are you shorting the Baltic Index, because every analytic I've read over the past two months concludes there's a 5-15% price drop in shipping until Q1 2010? What companies are you buying? I can't see jumping into these until more of a bottom unless you're straddling volatility.

Finally jumped in and bought 100 shares of Verizon today at $29.90. I promised myself I would if it dipped below $30. I've been trying to diversify a little with some solid names that have high dividends. It is currently at 6.2%.
A few months back I bought Altria Group under $17 and it has a 6.8% dividend. It is nice getting that income come in every few months. Obviously I am thinking more long term with these names.

is this a serious q&a? exchange based commodities aren't like guns & cans of soup you store in the attic in case the apocalypse happens......thanks for my laugh for the day :)
About 75% of my $ is invested out of the country these days, other countries will have more economic growth then ours over the next few years. Even though I made a good chunk of change on BOA the last year, I certainly can't see touching any domestic funds.

I think thats a smart move and a very good idea. Oil is on its way to 100.
To be honest most stocks right now I am not a fan of and cannot get myself to commit money to them. The way I see the charts I do not like stocks at all and i think this current market sucks. RSI says S&P is overbought, and the VIX trading where it is has me as a buyer. I am a big contrarian.
One stock I do own I have been in and out of it since $1.98 is Ford. Right now I am long and selling puts. I love this stock because it disobes the charts and its bussiness is flourishing and their CEO is the best one in the world right now hands down.

I think Ford will be a good stock to hold onto, I don't see any short term profits but it'll recover once the economy recovers, unemployment and big ticket purchasing rebounds. Guys @ Ford must be loving this Toyota shit though.
Honestly the next move I'm considering is shorting some big bank stocks in particular Wells Fargo & BOA because I think they've overcorrected and they both have very high %'s of underwater first & 2nd home mortages & HELOC's.
Also I agree that the market overall is overvalued, but I'm a firm believer that if the economy does start to recover it will be accompanied by inflation & quite possibly hyper inflation so.....that makes me want to stay away from funds.

Not that I follow earnings that much, but they had blowout earnings last quarter and I only think its going to get better for them. So they have been profitable and been beating the street on earnings.
Seems that both of you like where energy is going and if oil does tick up over 100 a stock I like have been in and out of it is Anadarko (APC). It thrives very well and responds greater than the big energy stocks like exon and chevron when energy goes up.

Citibank - I just think its gonna be a good long term investment. It is a giant bank after all.
Citrix and VMware - 2 biggest companies when it comes to IT virtualization. Wave of the now and future.
Electronic Arts - Will be making lots of mobile games and getting good reviews.
Fortinet - make network security appliances (firewalls). Good company for Cisco to buy.
Riverbed - makes WAN optimization and has products that make virtual applications run faster.
MetroPCS and Vonage - Their just cheap and I think some telco company will buy them out.
Qualcomm - market leader in making chips for wireless devices and future chips, like for mobile TV, payments, global roaming, gps.
Redhat - pretty much the OS of choice in many other countries, especially for Servers.
SBA Communications - 3rd largest in cell towers, and growing fast.
