All Avalon's are nice. That one is across the street from the train station... Pretty loud intersection. The one in Lyndhurst is in a little quieter location.

i tried to get in there to look when we were first looking at east rutherford... they seemed nice from the floorplan but i doubt they are really worth the money.
i'm a half mile away in a smaller condo building and take the bus instead of the train and i swear by it. :giveup
location is great though, i love our town. :agree

we are in an avalon now but in arlington, va- so we have to transfer back to another avalon in nj. i'm trying to figure out which one is the best out of edgewater, east rutherford or lyndhurst. is lyndhurst close to nyc??? i'm familiar not w/ it- how would u get into the city from there.
edgewater & east rutherford have HORRIBLE reviews on apartmentratings.com saying there are mice, smelly garbage, break-ins etc.

i'm thinking east rutherford is probably best in terms of location- although i'm not really sure where lyndhurst. fiance will be commuting to nyc so that is important for us.
avalon jc is the closest to the city.
i know someone that lived in the edgewater one ( its also down the st from me) and that lived in lyndhurst and they both liked living there. its kinda hard to trust apartmentratings.com. ive seen great places w bad reviews and bad places w great reviews.

The JC one is definitely closest and I've been in them and their nice, that area is kind of funny though it's like a commuter section and can be real quiet @ night, although it's getting more built up. The Edgewater one sucks because to get into the city you have to take a shuttle to the lightrail/PATH or ferry, it's a real hassle, East Rutherford by the train station is a great area IMO, the commute is a little longer then JC but it's more of a suburban/neighborhood feel to it, I actually really like the area and eat lunch over there a few days a week.

Jersey City is the closest. Lyndhurst is actualy close to the City too - the Lincoln is about 15 mins away down Rt 3.

PM Dancefloorhewa, she just moved from the Lyndhurst building. I was over a bunch of times and I thought it was nice.
I'm not sure how you get into the city from there I think she could shed some light... I'm sure your fiance could drive to Secaucus station (there's parking there now) if he wanted if there isnt a bus right there. Its right where Rt. 3 and Rt 17 meet, its def convenient to the turnpike, city, etc.
As for East Rutherford I'd only be semi concerned about parking since your right next to the train station. Do they have a garage?

it says they have 197 parking spaces. i'm going to look at east ruth & lyndhurst this weekend & see what the deal is. lyndhurst definitely looks nicer online but east ruth is such an easy commute w/ the train across the street so i gotta see what's up w/ the parking there. east ruth would also be closer to my family & friends which is nice.

The Lyndhurst place is literally 3 minutes down Rt 17 from me, I think you're picturing it being a little further out than it is...

I wouldn't go to the one in Lyndhurst only because its right in the middle of the meadows.

he means that's all swamp land, I'm not sure how it's set up but I definitely wouldn't buy anything on the first floor bc that area floods all the time, I used to work over by Whiskey back in the day.
Btw I was just over by the E. Rutherford ones, theres a gigantic attached parking garage.

they're the same distance just on different sides of Rt.3. The East Rutherford location is more residential then the ones would be down by Mid-Evil Times, that area is really just industrial.

im pretty sure there's a bus to the city running right down riverside ave in lyndhurst. And if im not mistaken, right in front of the condo complex. This is the new complex right off of rt 21 by the lyndhurst diner, right?

Yes, not sure what it's called but it's pretty nice and there is a newer sports bar "Swish" in that complex.

It looks really nice from the outside. I wanna see what the rooms look like. I thought about moving there but im kind of scared that if the river floods, it's gonna hit that parking lot really hard. Hasn't happened in years, but the thought crossed my mind. It's across from King's court. They have a bar/lounge in there called crystal's that has a live salsa band on friday nights. I'm gonna go there now that my back is better.

really? I went to look at a building up on prospect a few months back but i had bad credit. I was gonna reapply in about 6 months once my scores are up. It was nice. Laundry on every floor, a pool, utilities included & a terrace.

Which one? I lived there all last yr and bounced. The rent was sky high and everything was wrong every other day. Gorg building, great amenities, but with all the stupid shit going wrong I should have not been paying that much $.

omg tell me the story. The rental lady was kind of a see you next tuesday, if you ask me. And to make matters worse, my bf's ex walks into the office to talk to her (she lives in the complex) and this bitch is going off about my financial situation in front of her. I wanted to die of embarassment

I heard there were mice and roaches especially in QH1. Seems to be a lot of the apartments are empty as well... Bird shit on the terraces, etc. The rent there is pretty low though...
Trust me, save your money.

Yes that's right. I guess i was thinking of the wrong complex. So where are the avalon apts then? And is the rent expensive?

omg, thank god. I would have been in tears. The building i looked at was the the one one the corner closest to hackensack medical center. Is that the 1?
Maybe i'll just stick to an owner run rental. I did like the idea of a pool & terrace.

they don't have avalons in hackensack. they are in edgewater, jersey city, lyndhurst, or east rutherford. i think it's like 1800 for a 1br & 2000k & up for a 2br depending on which complex u go with.
in nyc it's like 5-6k for a 2br LOL- ummm no!

I lived in the Ivanhoe and let me tell you, it was nice with all those amenities but it had its downfalls too. Right now where I am I still have a pool, terrace, all appliances, laundry outside of my door, parking for two cars, still in Bergen County, etc and pay $550 less than I did in Hackensack. The only thing I don't have anymore is a doorman. Trust me, there are places out there! :agree
