My work is making us take a 1 week furlough. They also claim we can collect unemployment for the 1 week. I live in nj, does this sound right?

I know but they sent out an email saying to log onto the unemployment website 1 week prior to your furlough. Then I guess when it asks why you are claiming you check the "lack of work" option or something. Just doesnt make sense because im still on the payroll of the company, I still have a job....hmmmm

I'm pretty confident you can. I know it's available here in AZ. I had to give a week furlough to my employees and they received unemployment for it.

You def could collect, my mother works at a school and every summer she has 2 weeks in August in which they shutdown and collects unemployment for those 2 weeks.
