you just have to do your homework and check different banks rates...i locked $2k into a 2 year cd with citibank a few months ago at 2.3% for shits and giggles
keep in mind that once you open a cd account, you can't take that money out until the cd matures
there are better forms of investments for your money with the shitty cd rates these days...years ago it wasn't uncommon to find 5% or higher...

I'm not so sure of that most commodities are already high, and if the Fed starts raising rates @ the end of the year they'll come down because other investments will be more attractive and less volatile.
That's shit imo, plus you don't have access to your money.
Makes me miss the days ING was paying a ton of interest on their savings account, the one year i made about $1500 in interest alone and only a 3 day delay to have access to it.
cd's are safe, which is why alot of people choose them ...but like someone said the returns used to be 5% and so,
smart way ( IMO) to play with these is to ladder them
have money split up into a
3 mo
5 mo
1 yr
and so on....this way one is always close to maturing if you need money in a hurry
if your money is just sitting in the bank collecting interest, it might as well be parked in a CD and collect more, but this is good for when the rates are a little better
