No...if I'm thinking correctly you need to compelte certain CFP courses, you have to have a college degree, 3 years of working experience and pass the test.

from what I hear the CFP isn't a cake walk you can just pay for to get. The CFA exams certainly weren't.

Im not saying you just pay for it and get it. Of course you have to pass the exams but in the end your just doing it for a title it doesnt mean anything. Most people get it so they can put CFP next to their name so they look fancy to try and get more clients in retail end.

I guy at my office had it hasnt renewed it for 5 years its been expired because its notin. Another person i know is plannign on getting it hes a mook at best so if he has a CFP its a joke to me

Of course it's all about having the extra piece of paper, but a good amount of the time you acquire extra knowledge with that title and for some reason I think depending on the company you work for and/or it allows you to run your own franchise/subsidiary for investment firms. Like I said I can't speak for that exam, but I'll tell you the 3rd level of the CFA was probably one of the hardest tests I've ever taken and I'm no finance slouch.

I was an analyst for a long time, now in a little more senior position.
