View Full Version : Researching a stock for short-term trading
What are the most important things to look for? Which charts are most essential?
What are the best resources for news, articles, opinions on the stock?
I'm researching FCX right now, any thoughts, opinions, insight?

thid is an awesome message board:
hotstockmarket.com
I'd look at increasing volume, RSI, moving averages, resistance points, shit like that
I like to look at the 6 month chart and find some good entry points, if it's there I go in, if not, then I wait for it. Patience is the KEY..

Ask yourself why do you like fcx, when its already up 400% on the year, if its a short term play always follow the market, everything daily has to do with the market, And if it breaks that pattern ask yourself why it broke the pattern and how do i spot it.
Trading is not easy, for me the most important thing is understanding the market, what moves it, what its made of, if you don't understand that, then you are just gambling.
Or you could invest long term, but that is totally different game, 2 types of investing long term those that get lucky and follow an up market, and those that can see where things are heading for reason putting large amounts in that direction.
Most trading is based on price action, scalping and markets not much else.

any thoughts on FCX?
I think it'll hit 100 this year but you can find a lot of better shit out there to trade. Check out the message board in the link above, they have a learning section too. They also have a lot of good threads and watchlists.

ERR check out TRIT, DGW, and RINO. These stocks will be golden in the future with the shitload of problems China has with water.
Not a new investor, but looking to improve my game in every facet. so much too learn
Ugh, thanks for bringing up FCX.
My best friends father is big into stocks and last Decemember was rambling to me how it's a $100 and it's a steal at $20 then proceeded to tell me all about the company. I watched it for months and should have hit it hard when it was at $18. I'm really kicking myself for not pulling the trigger considering it's at $84.
I don't think it will go too much higher.

Watch the 50 Day and 200 Days always and always listen to the RSI (Relative Strength Index) and MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence)
You be on the beat of whats going on in Europe and Asia overnight and try to do your trading either at the open and the close. My rule is to never fuck around mid day.
