In your experience, what has been the best supplement (besides rest) to take after a strenuous cardio and calisthenic workout to prevent muscle pain, that allows you to consistently workout HARD for the rest of your week?

Also anti-oxidants... and stretching after your workouts can help to flush all the cortisol out of your worked muscles. The cortisol is what causes the soreness.

yeah I take plenty of anti-oxidants...and I usualy stretch during and after workouts...I find that stretching before makes my muscle hurt more after...it's not just the cortisol causing aches right? I thought a majority of the pain comes from the lactic acid build up? or is that just short term pain and cortisol levels cause the longer term, next day pain?

What about protein??? you should be matching your weight to the amout of grams of protein you ingest daily if you weigh 170 try to at least get 170 grams protein per day ..this is difficult without shakes(which also provide 22 aminoacids) then the glutamine creatine and testosterone boosters work way more effectivly.....if your protein intake is only 60 grams a day glutamine wont help you that much or creatine for that matter.... i also suggest 3,000 mg vitamin c per day

The Vitamin C I buy from GNC is 1,000mg per pill. So its only taking one pill 3 times a day. Not so crazy:buck

Most weight-lifters consume at least 1g per lb of bodyweight on a daily basis.

Vitamin C is water-soluable and we can handle very large amounts. I prefer to take 1000mg per day, which is recommended, but if I'm sick (which is rare) I'll take over 3000mg. Just make sure to spread the doses out so you don't waste it.

Well I only take 1,000 mg of Vit C daily, 2,000 if Im sick or around sick ppl...I just dont think 3,000mg is neccessary...your going way over the recommended daily dose...doctors barely even prescribe that much to patients who are on their death beds...Ive seen 2,000 mg being the highest prescribed dose in a hospital setting, but the patient was suffering from multiple infections and had compromised immunity so it was a understandable..but for a health young adult to consume 3,000 mg i think its just overkill

I don't believe in Vitamin C overkill, lol. I've actually heard of bodybuilders taking multiple grams per day. The recommended dose is like nothing...definitely under 500mg. People who train have no reason to limit themselves to what the FDA recommends.

Why am I not shocked that we have opposing views lol :flickTong

The U.S. RDA for vitamin C is 60 milligrams per day..which is quite low....in a hospital setting doc's usually prescribe around 500 mg/day which is obviously alot higher than the RDA

RDA is only 60mg? No wonder why everyone is always sick.

Which Vitamin C do you guys get? The Vitamin C with Sodium Ascorbate is much better for you then the kind with Ascorbic Acid.

Wow, 3000? That's a lot for a regular day, lol. I do agree that you should take a lot more if you lift weights, smoke or use drugs.

5-10k ur nuts lol a whole bottle no not at all but a 1,000 mg tablet every hour when your sick would equal 10,000 mgs during a normal day.....this therapy has been studied and proven to reduce your colds by 3 days but you should take zinc as well ....Vitmin c is water soluble so why would taking large doses be insane???? like i said if you smoke and lift taking 1,000 mgs 3x per day is not extreme at all

What study was that? cuz the newest study on vit c and colds proves that it doesnt help colds at all

When I say Insane im refering to the extra effor t ur body has to go through to metabolize the vitamin c....why put that much stress on urself if half that amount would be sufficient for most ppl?

Taking mega doses of vit C has no basis on cold therapy anymore than taking the prescribed dose
