I have my views and opinions on this article. I'll share a little later..

i agree with most of what I skimmed thru:

1 - its VERY hard to eat clean and stay ripped all year while at the same time adding quality muscle, and not fat

2 - juice and HGH lets you addd hundreds and thousands of calories to your diet and still not get fat, yet add quality muscle mass in bunches

3 - theres no substitute for real food (me personally, i feel at least 70% of your intake should be real food, 6-8 total meals a day, every 3 hours small/moderate sized meals)

4 - bodybuilders dont eat clean all year, there is precontest and then there is everything else

5 - supplements is a million, maybe billion dollar a year industry nbowadays with everyone being so gym/health conscious, marketing is very aggressive and theres not much regulation, so who knows what does what or whos BS'ing you, especially pro bodybuilders who need to make $$

good article IMO

I have my views and opinions on this article. I'll share a little later.. I just read the whole thing and I can agree with almost everything he said. Most of it has very little to do with me because im not even close to that level.

Im curious to see what your opinions are on this topic.

Well, the first thing this guy failed to define is his definition of "massive" and to whom he's REALLY directing that article too.... from the feeling I get, massive means 5"10 - 6'3" 220-275+ looking like Ronnie, Dorian, Lee Priest, King Kamali, Levrone.. and those fellas...

Correct me if i'm wrong or let me know if you think otherwise, but it seems to be aimed pretty much at people who are competing as well as people who are 'hard core' steroid users. That really doesn't apply to people who are completely natural and are trying to get BIG naturally. They ARE the ones who need to consume much leaner calories most of the time and follow much stricter diets ALL year round... If the average natural bber were to consume 7000 cals or more a day, the average natural body builder, would be big, but also FAT... And besides the majority of them won't be able to stomach that much food or more on a daily basis and still be natural.

Now for the competitor, that artical is a typical on / off season.. I don't know why he said "It is no longer en vogue to bulk-up in the off-season" when every single competing bber does. They gain 60-70+ lbs from their comp. weight in the off season. A good example is to me is King Kamali.. once inawhile my barber cuts his hair and I remember the condition he'd come into the barber shop in... He'd be fat (huge gut) and massive... hairy as shit too.... (and short which makes him pretty funny to look at). But come comp. time, he's a lot leaner and looks in much better shape (still looks like shit to me though)...

Competitors definitely lean down through dieting, BUT, they also pound down the insulin (IGF-1) as well as growth hormone and other unknown substances in order to achieve LEAN body mass, shred up, and lower body fat ALL at the same time.. . And despite what that article says, HgH, DOES decrease body fat tremendously, but when used like the competitors do, it also gives you "growth belly". For the average AS using bber , these type of substances are just a tad bit too 'hardcore'. I don't imagine myself ever touching slin, but HgH is something i'll look into once I'm 26 and older...

So what 'artificial' methods of lowering body fat does that leave the average AS user like me with?? Winstrol, Anavar, Clen, Primo, Cytomel, as well as OTC products like ephedra (banned). However, While those substances i've just listed definitely increase lean body mass, shred you up, and lower body fat, they aren't nearly as effective as they are when used in conjunction with what the pro's use.. and not that they don't work... but it's just apples to oranges when used in the simple manner that the author did.

That article had some good points but I wasn't entirely impressed with it... For people like myself, thanks to genetics, it's pretty damn hard to get fat as well as stack on muscle mass right now. Thus, I can eat 5000+ cals a day (which is about where i'm at right now) and still be lean. When you factor in things like employment, social life, family life, etc.. it becomes very tough to maintain that much eating for a prolonged period of time ( 5 months and longer). Basically, the only time I can maintain such a routine of eating and training hard so religously is through steroid usage. I can still eat to maintain and still train hard to maintain when 'off', but steroids definitely allow me to take my game to another level. A lot of people criticize that approach but the truth is, those same critics are the same damn way!

A pro's entire life, depends on his body, therefore he has to dedicate his entire life to all that eating, all that steroid usage, and all that lifting... One thing you never really hear about though is how the vast majority of these pro's only live into their 60s (at the latest) and should they live longer, you NEVER hear about the sickness and organ failures they suffer into older ages... You think the body was really designed to consume that many calories, fat, protein, etc.. for years at a time?

Hell No!

In my opinion*, it's people like the competitors from the late 90's into today that have ruined the sport of body building and have fueled the current ignorance in the steroid craze... the easy way out.....

Muscle is gained by eating
over and above what is required for maintenance. Fat
is lost by eating less than what is required for
maintenance.

Thats the simplest way to describe it.

LOL 7500 calories a day? Shit you have to carry an Igloo full of food to work.

I don't eat that many calories a day.. I'm right around 5000 +/- though... Aside from meals that I bring everyday, I have peanuts, yogurt, fat free ice cream, etc..that I keep in the fridge at work or in my desk on a weekly basis. I even brought in a small oven, but when my office moved, it mysteriously 'disappeared'..... I'm gonna buy another one soon though because I can't stand the way chicken and most foods taste after being microwaved. We have a small little kitchen area here at my job that's seperate from the office... so if I REALLY wanted to, I could cook a steak in that oven!
