after consulting with some family members who are doctors...the "need" for protein/sugar right after workout is not supported. basically saying that it depends who u ask. also alot depends on what you are training for.

In my case..im going for general health..Id like to tone up and be solid..not "jacked" i refuse to be one of the small balls of muscle walkin around all stiff an shit..

I am drinking the juice right after working out, cuz the sugar makes sense. being that no matter what you consume it gets broken down into sugar..thats probably what ur body wants most right after working out. juice is probably the best way to do that..these are just my theories...

Are you trying to say that taking protein after training doesnt matter? Also, are you trying to say that the benefits of taking protein after training isnt documented?:ROTFL

really what im saying is that...lets say u just worked out regularly and didnt take the supplements...still eating a well balanced diet..would ur performance/build be any different than if you had taken the supplements?? wheres the research to show that difference? from a legitimate source..

Im not trying to sound like a smart ass here either. im just throwing out some other information that ive gotten.

mazz i have way too much to type on this subject, being Im so passionate about nutrition

when i see you again we'll talk about it more

but remember I have nothing but respect for doctors, toughest job in the world IMO, but most of them dont train/bodubuild 5 days a week and dont have "real world" trial and error experience with what works, just what the books taught them, since its not a life or death topic (gaining muscle mass) im sure they spend more time reading about new life saving techniques and cures for sicknesses, thats more their passion

PS i dont think i ever saw a jacked up diesel doctor lol (with the exception of Ray Cazz) - have u?

I agree with the jist of what he's saying, for the most part the medical community tends to have a negatively biased opinion on supplements and their effects. I have in the past taking many supplements(creatine, hmb, betagen, myoplex/protein shakes, glutamine) and seen great and significant results. I now take no supplements and basically eat whatever the fuck I want and still retain a decent shape.

thats what im sayin. I think the secret really lies in the actual exercise and a balanced diet. I guess the supplements may give the body builder the extra edge...

lets not 4get genetics... Hammer...

and as for taking protein and what not after a work out... its not necessary but def beneficial... ur body just bruned a lot of shit and why not replace all those nutirents and what not when its needed the most...

taking all these supplements I agree is not necessary... but to say they dont work or dont help is retarded... (bte I am not saying thats what u are stating...)

The key is recovery...If your muscles recover quickly you can hit them twice a week with out overtraining i believe nutrients and supplements help me recover quicker and you can not deny the effects of creatine.....with that said you still need the proprer sleep i dont care how many supplements you take if you sleep under 5 hours a night you will not grow or recover fast...nice meeting ya at jordans b-day

As James says the key is recovery. Consuming protein right after a workout speeds up recovery and feeds your strained muscles immediately instead of leaving them starving for a few hours. There are plenty of research findings that document workout recovery and protein synthesis and so on, but I don't have access. Most of the information I have acquired on the subject has been in Muscle & Fitness with professional journal references attached. This means that the article is a summary of the professional research findings, not some meathead telling you what to do.

This is a ridiculous topic. If you dont want to eat protein then dont, but dont expect results.

I have heard of a few rare cases of extreley low protein diet bodybuilders out in the country, but I do agree that high protein is necesary.

1/i know how much genetics has to do with it, because no one in my family has the same build as me.

2/and i dont buy the under 5 hours sleep thing, because I hardly ever get that much sleep and I still do fine.
