these are the biggest waste of money possible. each month they give you contradictory advice, bombard you with advertisements and homoerotic poses of bodybuilders. not to mention, the little content they give you is wrong. anybody that knows what they are doing usually does not perform the workouts or diets they suggest. the reality is that the only thing that really puts on size is heavy heavy weight and eating a ton of clean food (and of course certain "gear"), and that doesn't change month to month .
the good info on training and diet is on the message boards (i.e. anabolicreview.com, beyondmass board). fuck joe weider and his cornball magazines, they are for amatuers.
Dude, I feel the same way. I find it so hard to trust any companies because they are all up in these magazines whoring their product.
Case and point..last year Lee Priest was pitching Muscletech products. Making all these claims of how he got all out of shape and then hooked up with MT and got shredded for the season. I pick up this months Flex and see the exact same add...for Twin Lab!!!! Almost the same pictures and everything.
I feel like the whole industry is a scam. Do they actually think we dont know that all these guys are on growth and shit? Like they got that big taking Cell Tech?!?!??! lol!!

I agree with everything you said except the contradictory advice part. The reason for that is bodybuilders giving their supposed workouts, which often is the opposite advice of others. As I said in the other post, scientific findings (with references) often contradict each other, which is why readers are often left in a cloud of ambiguity.

then keep track of what you send out to your readers. make references to past articles and discuss how/why the opposing views are possible, make things less gray. 99% of the people working out are confused as it is w/o all these "scientific studies" blurring the line anymore than it already is

Joe Weider doesn't own them anymore!
Muscular Development used to be the best one but they also sold out to writing garbage about steroids and lingerie specials as well.

I subscribe but I take things with a grain of salt. I have enough knowledge to know what is right and wrong. However, I do find these magazines useful because I can pick up an article here or there on a new routine or exercise that I have never did before to hit a muscle in a different angle. Also, I can learn about antioxidants, vitamins, and supplements that are out there better. I do not, however, read those advertisements and believe any of them. It is just like watching wrestling, you know its fake, but good entertainment, I think similarly, same concept.

I use to love M&D!! Haven't read it in a while though, but always felt they were the most honest about things. Yeah, they wrote about juice, but as unfortunate as it is and as much as anyone doesn't want to believe it, it is part of the sport. So they were atleast honest when it came to that.

The magazine sucks since he sold it, but I still don't mind reading it on the train.
