first of all -its not being called Ascension Fridays- that is clique's lttle name for the night because they are special.

secondly, i think its kinda inappropriate to post "use so and so's list"- because there are a bunch of promoters on these sights and it causes problems when people start doing this and then drama ensues- esp. when some of us have been there for months- so to all new buck (or fawn) promoters please use some professional courtesy and simply say "pm me for details" ect ... thanks a bunch

NO no ..I didn't mean the party would be a casualty..I meant the club itself. It's def not doing well...and the original *vision* ...as I predicted. ..would not work in NYC. So, then the typical *put it in the hands of greedy promoters* had to happen...and we'll see how much longer ti will be around.

Not EVERY big club ends up a casualty ...there are VERY good examples of clubs that have been able to prevail throughout the years.

internet is not anyone's turf and homegirl did not step on my toes- however its happened before where cats posting on the same website have gotten into actual brawls over message board drama. happened outside a different venue a couple of months ago- where i think it got to the point a knife was drawn.

as far as spirit being another nyc casuality- there hasnt been a saturday that has done less than 2000 heads in over a month- so- yeah -its really going down the shitter.

Respect on the first paragraph. I would HOPE that something stupid like THAT wouldn't hapen on here..and probably wouldn't because the people who are regulars on here are a pretty tightknit community.

Howwwever..as far as Spirit goes. Anyone who knows the nightclub business..knows how much that space costs to run..knows how much time wasted and money invested went into opening it....knows how the owner's original attempt & concept failed ....and knows how the new promotional team on Saturdays works & how much $$ they take ..and how much DJ bookings on Sat cost, staff salaries etc ..then, you'll know that the place is NOT making $$ hand over fist. PLus, a club of THAT size open only on Sat nights does NOT keep a place open. ..

...but WHUT do I know ? I've only been doing this virtually HALF of my life ;)

A) By *new* promotiional team .I DID mean the guys who are there now. You said it yourself. *They've been there since February* ..duhh ...it's only the beginning May. They've been there ONLY 2 MONTHS. THat's not *new* ? I mean ..that's the problem with today's promoters they think if a party lasts more than a month they have a success on their hands...because unfortunately, the trend in the last 5-6 years has been to use and abuse a space for as long as you can keep a crowd interested in it ..and then, ditch it ..and move on to the next one.

B) I know Saturday is NOT the only night open ..I know about the asian parties ..the trancer parties ..Taylor Calvoni's gay events etc. However, they're not *regular events* or *in-house events* ..So, they amount of $$ made is NOT the same. But then again ..how would I know anything ? *since I don't work there.* lol

C) Using Boris ..who is an old friend of mine and I'm not dissing at ALL ..as an example ? I mean ..yeah ..he DEF gets a good draw as far as local talent is concerned. However, I THINK when I'm referring to DJ expense ..I was referring to Roger Sanchez, David MOrales, MURK etc. I'm sure Boris runs a LIL less expensive. When Boris wins his grammy someday ....THEN , his rates shall skyrocket too, as well :D

D) As far as Bobby *owning the entire building* ..That, I DO admit I do NOT know ...YET. That can be found out. Even so ...regardless of whether he owns it or leases it .. .Spirit is still BEYOND *in the hole* as far as debt goes. I mean .do you have ANY idea what it took to open the place ? DO you have ANY idea how LONG it takes to recoup that money ? ?

E) Of COURSE, Crobar is in the same boat ..yet, not in as much peril...and I'll tell you why. I DO work at Crobar ..on n off...with another promoter who DOES rent out the entire space. Crobar is in a DEEPER financial abyss because they BUILT the spacer from SCRATCH. There are over 40 ..yes, 40 investors. One thing is when you take a space that was ALREADY a nightclub and just renovate and ADD to it ..but this was a warehouse space that was BUILT from scratch. One of the VERY FEW venues that can say that nowadays. Word is upwards of $40 million were spent to get Crobar off the ground. However, THEY run the club .. not promoters. What HOPEFULLY will continue at Crobar is that they're NOT succumbing like most club owners have to the *wrong kind* of promoters and promotional *way of foing things* that has infected the nightclub business in recent years. ..which is what IS going on at Spirit. I mean ..Noel Ashman may be a dick and caused a lot of probs when they started the Sat party, but IF it weren't for him Spirit wouldn't have been comment about for a hot minute...after he left. .Spirit went back into obscurity. I mean ..WHO talks about Spirit ? .....aside from the microcosm of people who promote it or know THOSE promoters. Bottom line is nobody in NYC cares about Spirit ..except for the Bridge and Tunnel crowd it attracts from the promotion.

Then again, I'm working on a proposal for an event on an off -night at Spirit because it fits into a plan I have,so, I hope it does NOT turn into Exit. lol I had hoped Andy's efforts at making *Foundation Fridays* would take off ...for whatever reasons they did not. I was never BASHING the place, just adding my 2 cents as to what I KNOW about the nightclub business and how things happen in NYC and illustrating WHY places come n go.

VJ is my new business partner...one of my closest friends and one of the most straight up guys I know.

The only project we are not working on together is Spirit, since I decided to leave the club for personal reasons and he decided to stay there.
He does know what he is talking about, and he has been extremely involved in getttin this night off the ground.
