Scorsese has been robbed once again, and I personally think that Julianne Moore should have that Oscar..she is phenomenal!!
I'm all for peace, but I think that Michael Moore's speech was tacky. Thousands of our troops our over there giving their lives...they need our unconditional support right now...that's just how I see it.

Even more shocking is that Roman Polanski was awarded the Oscar for best director, but could not attend in fear that he would be arrested in the United States after fleeing the country in 1978 for pleading guilty to having sex with a 13 year old girl!

maybe his talent would best be utilized doing a documentary on the conflicts plaguing the middle-east and their relationships with our government. i think in a way, he was playing to the crowd -- trying to further that whole Michael Moore, anti-establishment, opportunitist mentality/philosophy. you almost knew what was coming once he got up there. i admit, i'm a fan of his work, but people who make these bold, outright political comments have extreme difficulty with the act of opening mouth, inserting foot once the dust settles this iraq situation is resolved, which is why they should be a little more tactful with their statements. in a way it kinda ties into wishing celebrities would be better role models but then growing up to realize most are just as fucked up in the head (if not more) than you might be.
