Achalette (I have no idea how to spell it but it sounds right)? It is an italian tomato -y salad made with water, oil, italian seasonings, and lots of garlic and it has to be served ice cold (at least in my family) with a really good italian bread for dipping. I truly believe no one else in the world knows about this and I am just curious if anyone here does.

i've heard of bruschetta, which is might be what drumaboy is describing (???), but the achalette like you describe sounds like a tomato salad, which is called by different names throughout Italy.

bruschetta is where all those ingredients are chopped and put on small slices of toasted bread, this salad is chunks of tomatoes and thick slices of cucumbers and what not, kinda like a side dish salad....either way, both rock, ginny power!!!!!

Yes....ginny's rock and so does our food.
Oh man...just thinking about it is making my mouth water. Looks like I know what to eat for a late night snack. I have cucumbers and tomato in the fridge...put a little chopped garlic, olive oil and a splash of balsamic in a bowl, toast up some bread, and i'll be eating good....
