    we're all screwed.

i hate to say it, but I think Israel will get wiped off the map within ten years, especially once Iran gets the nuke. The muslim religious leaders have issued fatwas saying it is OK to kill over 200,000,000 arabs if in doing so, the six million jews living in israel get killed. In other words, it's OK to drop the bomb on Israel killing many in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and other Israeli arabs, as long as all the jews get killed. Think about those numbers!!! 200 million arabs dead! and they think it's worth it!!!

    How?

What's the point of commenting in a thread that is explicitly about an article and not read the article?

Set the soapbox up in another thread.

    With kindest thanks.

I know you're trying to bring some humor to the board, but can you not differentiate serious posts from non-serious posts?

joey: go back and read my post. it was dead serious. the issue msray had was that it wasn't relevant to the thread (although that is slightly debatable)

msray: yes, you by now have observed i have an agenda. i freely admit it that i am pro-israel and i take every chance to get on my soapbox. what can i say? btw - did you see the DYKE shirt? i have them for sale. I also have shirts that say "Betty Ford Clinic" likethose college athletic shirts "athletic dept. of . . ".,

"The current preponderance of our military power, combined with our overweening, xenophobic fear of the rest of the world, has corrupted all rational thought. Sadly, no one will listen to the mayor of Hiroshima, who last month wrote Bush to warn that new U.S. nuclear weapons development represented "a frontal attack on the process of nuclear disarmament."

But why listen to someone from Hiroshima? What do those people know about weapons of mass destruction?"

First, I would like to say that IMO Mr. Scheer wrote an incredible article, I find his journalistic writing to be quite enticing to the eye.

I pasted the above section of the article due to the fact that i find it to be quite profound. (about to rant, so excuse me) I have steered alot of my attention away from the current events that have been taking place in this country dealing with our "War on Terror" mainly because I find it to be disheartening. Also, the media in this country has taken this subject to what I call the outer limits. Meaning that I just don't know what to believe anymore. Or maybe it is just self-denial that I don't want to hear about it cause it has gotten to the point as to where I ask myself, are my opinions really going to matter? And if I consume all this information and find nothing but negativity from it, where will that leave me...even more disaheartened, and worried about something that I truly can not do anything about.

If it is so that the United States of America is to be considered on the frontal attack of nuclear dissarmament, I find it to be sad. I don't want to live in fear, I don't want to think about the fact that we engaged in war with Iraq to find that there are no weapons of mass destruction. Although, I do not want to think about all these things how can I say that when reading an article such as Mr. Scheer wrote. I don't where I am going with all if this and I do not know if I made any sense. I am just an American who does not understand what is really going on. There is just too much information, too many opinions, too much bullshit going on in this world at the time to consume it all! All I know is that I am going to continue to live my life how I see fit. With all that said; I would like to know how President Bush would respond to the comments made above.

I fear your confusion to be more widespread than realized and is why things are changing in such a way to make it seem "checks and balances" as a rule has been erased. Tensions are increasing along various lines which I feel will change all of our futures (with the hopes that it will be for the better) once the tension is released. We would hope that we won't repeat history, but history has shown that we have short memories.

I'd bet my life that were making them this very second. And especially after that first Nuke goes off, who's going to want to use "clean" bombs....Its only a matter of time. Someone will get one off whether it be a country or a terrorist.

growing up in the 1980's was scary due to the threat of a looming nuclear war with the USSR. Then, i don't know if you guys remember, that made-for-tv movie came out which was about nuclear war, and showed people in the streets getting vaporized. that scared the bjesus out of me. remember that?
