    Martial Arts

I was wondering if anyone on the board is into Martial Arts, in specific Karate and/or Tae Kwon Do? Reason I am asking is because I am thinking about learning one of those, as a way to get in shape, since IMO weight training F-ing sucks @ the gym without my personal trainer and I only end up doing Cardio and it's just not working out like I wanted it to...so, martial arts for physical health and mental health. Can anyone gimme any advice? I heard it is really good, works your core, gets you cut, etc.

try capoeira. It's fuckin hard as hell, but you'll not get a better workout from any other martial art

Difference between Karate and Take Kwon Do is Karate is a little more rigid Chinese form and TKD emphasizes more crazy kicking and is Korean. Theyre both good workouts. Acrtually...any martial art is a good workout. It just depends on what you like and what you want to learn.

It's a Brazilian Dance Martial Art. Think Tae Kwon DO meets Gymnastics

they don't have that here... only karate, and shit like that.
do you think it's a good alternative though -- in terms of being effective?

in terms of a workout, there's nothing better, imo. I've tried a lot of different martial arts, exercise routines, yogas, etc, and capoeira was by far the hardest, most physically demanding.

a lot of places have free trial offers. Try some out, if they have free trials available, and decide for yourself. Hard to really take someone else's opinion of these things. For the most part, you get out what you put in, in terms of effort, discipline, etc.
