What do you think about this

Since your body reacts to stress/depression in mostly bad ways (gain fat, have bad work outs, lose muscle(cortasol levels increase)) what do you think would happen if you went on something that help you be in a better mood and have less stress. You think it would help lower your cortasol(sp) levels and help you achieve greater muscle gains and have better work outs. I dont think living on anti-depresants is the answer either. But I am saying something like 5HTP, Ginkobola(sp) and other products like these.

I havent really looked into this yet but alot of it I know has to do with your nervous system(autotomic system). And I know alot of power movements in excersise are controled by your nervous system in your brain. And if you can keep your mind in a positive attitude and keep your self more focused, dont you think it would help you not only be happer but lift/work out even better? I read about this new product that SAN is comming out with that has to do with keeping you more alter and your mind alot shaper. Neuroflow I believe its called.

Just curious as to what you people thought.....

Stress/depression greatly effects your workout and diet..stress alters motivation and the potential incentive...my opinion is that axiolytics in a small dose would greatly improve workout performance and help many people reach their goal without the common peaks and valleys of an average persons exercise/dieting regimen.

Its the newer term used for anti-anxiety drugs...such chemical classes would be Antihistamines (Atarax), Benzodiazepines (Xanax), Propanediols (Equanil). Although I think these drugs would be extremely beneficial, they do cause drowsiness and dependance..BUT I dont see how one wouldnt be able to overcome that while eating healthy and exercising regularly...plus 979087807 other drugs cause drowsiness and dependance so whats the big fken deal? I think youve made an excellent point dude..

rock on with your bad self!

Eating and working out doesnt cause you to not get stressed out. Everyday life and what you have to deal with causes you to get stressed out sometimes and ruines your day/week and in return usually your work out (at least in my case). But I think if we can blanket the problem it would help you see better results faster.

I def dont think I can work out on anti-depresants but I am thinking about buying some 5HTP and some of that NueroFlow or Ginkobola(sp) and seeing what happens over the next month.

Working out does help relieve stress because it releases endorphins. The endorphins just might not be adaquate-enough to relieve major stress.

I'd watch it with the 5-HTP; you shouldn't take it more than once or twice a week. Stick to more natural forms of tryptophan instead. I also feel that a healthy diet and micronutrients might help fight stress as well.

not so sure about its other usages, but Ginkoboba is great for memory-loss (as I have been told)

I have a box of it in my cabinet unopened for months now, you just reminded me of it.. I think I'm gonna go try it
